Week 2

A Timeline of Settler-Colonialism in Palestine

Since Redeemer’s founding we also preached, understood, and attempted to embody God’s preferential love for the poor, marginalized, and oppressed. Naming Luke 4:18-29 ’the Great Mission Statement’, Tizon writes, “if Jesus did not proclaim good news to the poor, set the prisoners free, heal the sick, and champion justice and peace, then the Great Commission (Matt 28) would have nothing good to offer the nations. As Desmond Tutu says, “God is not evenhanded. God is biased, horribly in favor of the weak. The minute an injustice is perpetrated, God is going to be on the side of the one who is being clobbered.” Redeemer held these convictions. We paid attention to more than two thousand Bible verses that speak of God’s heart for the poor, immigrants, and the marginalized.
